Top Post Grant Patent Practices 2012

IP Boutiques Lead the Pack

Top post grant firmsThe USPTO has received over 100 post grant filings since it began accepting petitions for the post grant patent trial proceedings of the America Invents Act (AIA). With a statistically significant sample now on record, the leading post grant practice groups are beginning to emerge. Not surprisingly, the top firms are IP boutiques with well established patent reexamination and patent interference practices, such as Oblon Spivak and Sterne Kessler.

Below is a snap shot of the top firms based upon 2012 filings. The firms listed represent the leaders in overall representations, as well as client diversity (i.e., number of different entities represented). The Oblon firm, in addition to leading in overall representations with 27, also leads in client diversity with 7 different entities. Sterne Kessler, the # 3 firm in representations (10), represents 5 different entities (the second highest in client diversity).

I reserve the right to discontinue these rankings when they are no longer as blatantly self serving :)
